Privacy policy
Last updated 8 October 2026
harrisonspanner.com is run by Harrison Spanner in Australia. This page explains exactly what the site collects, why, who else is involved, and how to get your data changed or deleted. Questions or requests: [email protected].
What we collect and why
- Your email address, if you sign up. You can give it for new-article emails, an alert when an upcoming article goes live, or a gold or silver price alert. We store the email, what you asked for (the article, or the metal, currency and target price) and when. Every sign-up is confirmed by a link in your inbox first. We use your email to send what you asked for and occasional emails about new articles. Confirmed price and article alerts also join that email list, as the sign-up forms say.
- Spam protection. When you sign up, we keep a scrambled, one-way version of your IP address to limit how many sign-ups can come from one connection each hour. It can’t be turned back into your IP address. The price-alert form also uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check you’re a person.
- Visit counts. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without building a profile of you.
- Things saved in your own browser. Your cart, your light or dark choice, and whether you closed the sign-up pop-up are saved in your browser’s local storage. They stay on your device; we don’t receive them.
Affiliate links and partner stores
Products in the shop and some links in articles go to partner stores and to Amazon Australia. If you buy, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. When you click through, that store and its affiliate network (such as Amazon Associates, FlexOffers or GoAffPro) may set cookies to record that you came from this site. Their privacy policies cover what happens there. We never see your name, address or payment details from those purchases, only commission totals.
Other services some pages use
- Cloudflare hosts the site and stores sign-up data.
- Resend sends our emails.
- Google Fonts supplies the site’s fonts, so Google receives your IP address when a page loads.
- TradingView provides the charts on the gold and silver page, and jsDelivr serves the map code on the Explore page.
Some of these companies store or process data outside Australia, including in the United States.
What we don’t do
We don’t sell, rent or trade your email address. We don’t use advertising trackers such as the Facebook or Google ad pixels.
How long we keep it
- Sign-ups you don’t confirm are deleted after 48 hours.
- Price alerts and article alerts are deleted 7 days after they’re sent, or straight away if you cancel them.
- Your address stays on the email list until you unsubscribe. After that, we keep only a note that you unsubscribed, so you aren’t added again by mistake.
Your choices
Every email has an unsubscribe link. To see, correct or delete what we hold about you, email [email protected] and we’ll reply within 30 days. If you’re not happy with how we handle it, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
